From our various production sites in the Netherlands, BVB Substrates supplies tailor-made, high-quality growing media to customers in more than 100 countries worldwide. One question we are frequently asked is why we apply a Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ). We are happy to explain the reasoning behind this.
Substrate and Cultivation Performance
Our substrates are often tailor-made to support the specific performance goals of your cultivation. Consider key properties such as:
- the right amount of air in the root zone,
- sufficient structural stability of the mix,
- optimal water buffering and easy moisture availability,
- strong water absorption capacity,
- and balanced drainage.
The Mixing Process
To achieve this, we blend various raw materials and fertilizers in the correct order and proportions using specially equipped mixing lines at our production facilities. It’s not just about volume it’s also about precisely adding fertilizers in complex combinations.
The mixing line includes multiple raw material bunkers spread out over a long distance. During production, fertilizers are added in stages while the line is already running. This means that part of the substrate is already being processed before all additives have been fully introduced and mixed. Only after a short start-up phase is the mixing line properly set and calibrated.
For this reason, we apply a Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) to ensure reliable and consistent quality.
